Janus: Change and prosper

Janus is the Roman god associated with beginnings and endings,transitions, choices, gate and doorways and duality.  His two faces allow him to gaze at both the past and the future.  With his key he opens doors so that actions can start, presides over all transitions and closes the door when the necessary processes are complete. His staff is often depicted as a living branch heavy with fruit symbolising his power to determine what prospers during the journey or transition.  It is an essence with many uses, from the arrival of a new baby to starting a new job; from changing a negative way of thinking or being, to gaining closure on a situation.
