If Bracken grows in wooded areas it usually develops at the edge, nearest the light and open countryside. It is distinguished from ferns by having a single stem rising from the earth which branches before it produces leaves. It is this growth pattern that is the signature of the essence. There are times in life when we find ourselves at crossroads requiring us to make difficult, sometimes painful decisions that will affect our own destiny and, sometimes, the future of others. Bracken first helps transform the inevitable alarm we feel at the risks and responsibility involved into the courage we need. It also connects us closely to our Guides and reinforces our trust that all will, ultimately, be well. In this way we do not waste our energy on worry but free ourselves of the need to be in control and approach the new section of our intended pathway with hope and anticipation. Bracken, therefore helps us to ‘branch out’.
